3 Meal Replacement Smoothies You Should Try

Right after coffee, food is my favorite thing ever. If I'm not eating, I'm usually thinking about eating, so you won't be surprised to know that nutrition is the absolute most difficult part of my healthy life journey. I've learned to make healthier food choices over the years, and one of those is replacing one of my meals with a smoothie.

Before you close this article and think I've lost my mind, let me clarify something:

You can NOT put powder in water with a banana and call that a meal replacement.

That's a snack. You'll be starving within the hour and then it's pretty pointless.

For a smoothie to replace a whole meal, it has to be packed with ingredients that are going to keep you full. A meal replacement should be between 400-500 calories, which is the same amount as (you guessed it) a small meal.

So here are a few of my favorites. All of them include Shakeology (which I will shamelessly plug by telling you that you can click the link to try it risk-free), but if you have another superfood mix that you'd rather use, that will work as well. Just make sure the flavors are the same (for example, if the recipe says Chocolate Shakeology, you should use your own chocolate powder, or add a tablespoon or two of cacao powder to end up with a similar flavor).

How to Blend Your Smoothie

For each of these, you should add your ingredients in this order:

-Liquid

-Fruit

-Nut butter

-Powder

-Ice

I mixed all of mine with a Ninja Bullet, and it's easier to have the ice right on the blade for quick blending.

If you like your smoothie to be creamy, stick with just one cup of your chosen liquid, and add extra ice. If you want it to taste smoother, like a juice, add more liquid and less ice.

Enjoy!
